I've just arrived in Haapsalu from the on-arrival training, which took place in the beautiful town of Viljandi, and I feel even more excited about this experience than before. We had five intense days of activities, explanations and meetings, we learnt so much and, above all, we met amazing people. The two educators who managed this training, Umberto and Elisabeth, were fantastic both personally and professionally, but the most especial thing was to meet other volunteers from many different countries (Georgia, Germany, India, Ireland, Italy, Morocco, Spain, Turkey and Ukraine) who are also living in Estonia and starting their projects. We did a lot of activities related to analyze in more detail our specific projects, to work on emotional conscience and to start to immerse ourselves in the Estonian culture; we had Estonian folk dance and language lessons... and I loved it! And one night, we watched a documentary film about the history of Estonia in the last decades that really touched a nerve string in me: "The Singing Revolution".
I can't wait to continue learning much more things about Estonia and to discover this amazing country by travelling with all my new intercultural friends!
P.S. By the way, Viljandi is also incredible: I went walking every day through the town and I couldn't stop taking photos all the time to every building, landscape, monument... I highly recommend visiting this place! :)
Acabo de llegar a Haapsalu de las jornadas de acogida, que se organizaron en el precioso pueblo de Viljandi, y me siento aún más entusiasmada por esta experiencia que antes. Tuvimos cinco intensos días de actividades, explicaciones/charlas y reuniones, aprendimos mucho y, sobre todo, conocimos a gente maravillosa. Los dos educadores que dirigieron las jornadas, Umberto y Elisabeth, eran fantásticos tanto personal como profesionalmente, pero lo más especial fue conocer a otros/as voluntarios/as de bastantes países diferentes (Georgia, Alemania, India, Irlanda, Italia, Marruecos, España, Turquía y Ucrania) que están también viviendo en Estonia y empezando sus proyectos. Hicimos un montón de actividades relacionadas con analizar con más detalle nuestros proyectos específicos, trabajar en concienca emocional y empezar a sumergirnos en la cultura estonia; tuvimos clases de danza folk estonia y de estonio... ¡y me encantaron! Y una noche, vimos una película documental sobre la historia de Estonia en las últimas decadas que realmente me conmocionó: "The Singing Revolution" ("La Revolución Cantada").
No puedo esperar a seguir aprendiendo muchas más cosas sobre Estonia y descubrir este increíble país viajando con todos mis nuevos amigos interculturales!
P.D. Por cierto, Viljandi es también impresionante: iba caminando todos los días por el pueblo y no podía parar de sacar fotos todo el tiempo a cada edificio, paisaje, monumento... ¡Recomiendo muchísimo visitar ese lugar! :)
